Artist's PROMPT

For our first issue, we invite artists to reflect on the idea of a second life, the life that begins when survival stops requiring assimilation.

For many trans people, our first lives are shaped by safety, expectation, and legibility. We learn how to perform queerness in ways that are recognizable, palatable, or protected. But in our trans journeys, we shed inherited perceptions of gender and begin forming ourselves on our own terms.

We are seeking work that explores rebirth, transformation, shedding, becoming, and self-authorship. This may look like rupture or tenderness, grief or joy, liminality or grounding. We are especially interested in work that honors the moment where the old self is not erased, but integrated and transformed into something truer.

You may submit work in any medium, including but not limited to: illustration, photography/videography, collage, writing, mixed media, archival reinterpretation, or experimental formats.
